Here are the best trails for mountain-biking

An outing to the forest or along the water is always a good idea but who says it has to be a walk? If you prefer a higher pace and experiencing Horsens nature in a different way, go mountain-biking.

We help you find the best routes for mountain-biking.

Choose an appropriate route

You will find scenery and challenges for both beginners and experienced cyclists in and around Horsens. There are lots of dirt roads and trails. There is a disused railway line which runs from Horsens along the fjord and up towards the Odder coast. And there is a flat area west of the city if you prefer to avoid the hills.

Åbjergskoven and Bygholm Lake

If you are fine with smaller hills, we recommend trying the mountain bike trail in Åbjergskoven around Bygholm Sø.

The 10-kilometre-long route starts at the north-western corner of the lake on the gravel road leading to Aarupgaard.

From the starting point, you can drive one-way, clockwise around the lake.

One of Denmark’s best trails for mountain-biking

If you are ready for greater biking challenges, you find one of Denmark’s best mountain bike trails south of Horsens in Bjerre Forest where there is a 10-km route with lots of hills.

You will find trails for both beginners and practised cyclists. The blue trail is approx. 7 km long and suitable for beginners, while the black trail is 10 km long and suitable for practiced cyclists. The black track consists primarily of single-tracks and offers a lot of hills and steep descents whereas the blue track primarily follows wider forest trails.

However, the two paths often meet which is why several people of different levels can cycle together. The routes are well marked.

Getting going with mountain-biking
